All setup instruction and guidance for using PPC Assurance is available on our website.
To use these products, you must provide the information outlined in our signup page. Additionally, steps are outlined below and differ whether you are using Google Adwords or Yahoo Search Marketing:
Install the Javascript tracking script.
There are two versions of the tracking script: one for normal
web pages and the other for SSL pages. Copy the appropriate line
into your site's HTML just before the </head> tag, and
replace the SITEID text with the site
ID assigned to your site.
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://log.enquisite.com/log.js?id=SITEID"></script>
For SSL pages, use the following:
<script type="text/javascript" src="https://logssl.enquisite.com/log.js?id=SITEID"></script>
Note: The javascript needs to be included in your site on, at a minimum, with your landing pages. Ideally, it should be included on every page of your site.
For Google
(Yahoo below)-
Grant PPC Assurance API Access to your Google Adwords Account. Upon sign-up PPC Assurance Adwords will ask for permission to access your Adwords account via a request directly to your Adwords messaging centre. You must login to your Adwords account and you will see a message asking for permission to grant access to the PPC Assurance Adwords API. At this point you must confirm permission. It is at this point that PPC Assurance will begin gathering and analysing the information.
-
Turn Click ID ON. Google AdWords has implemented a feature called "auto-tagging", also known as Google's Google Click ID or GCLID, for short. At the present time, GCLID is turned on by default if you create a new account. For older accounts created prior to the introduction of GCLID, it is usually turned off. To use PPC Assurance, the GCLID setting should be turned on. In the Google interface, please go to:
My Account->Account Preferences and look at;
- Tracking - edit
- Auto-tagging: Yes
(Yellow arrows in images shown indicate where to find the settings).
This service is described more in detail by clicking here.
To get the full benefits of PPC Assurance service you MUST leave auto-tagging turned ON. This will ensure you obtain PPC Assurance information at a campaign level (as opposed to an aggregate level, in which case each PPC Assurance parameter shall reported as an aggregate value across all of your campaigns).
-
Insert a specific Page tag. To obtain campaign level PPC Assurance information, you must insert a specific page tag into each campaign's and landing page URL (also called a "Destination URL" by Google) as it is defined in your Google AdWords account. This procedure is easy, and goes as follows:
As you configure your AdWords campaign you will be requested to set up one or more "ads". For each ad, please copy the following string and add it immediately after the URL, identifying that ad's "Destination URL".
- ?type={ifsearch:search}{ifcontent:content}&keyword={keyword}&adid={creative}&placement={placement}
- yourdomain.com/index.html
- yourdomain.com/index.html?type={ifsearch:search}{ifcontent:content}&keyword={keyword}&adid={creative}&placement={placement}
Note that this tag provides us with other information including keyword information related to each click we record for you. Google will fill in the necessary parameters automatically.
After signing up for PPC Assurance, our systems will verify that your destination URLs have been correctly configured.
Google warns that the use of Google's auto-tagging feature this may affect the operation of some sites; please contact our service department for assistance if your site's operation is adversely affected.
